Alfred Scott, affectionately known to his family and friends as "Al" or "Sugar", passed to eternal rest on June 8, 2024, in his hometown of Johnstown, PA. Al was born to Howard and Alberta (Henry) Scott on September 19, 1949. He was a beloved and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend.
Al is preceded in death by his parents, Howard, Sr., Alberta (Henry) Scott, and brothers, Larry Scott and Howard Scott, Jr. His memory is honored and kept alive by his loving wife, Sandra (Herndon), and children, Dr. Stephon L. (Leslie) Scott of Aberdeen, MD, and children Stephon II of North Chesterfield, VA, Adrianna of Albuquerque, NM, Andres of Santa Fe, NM, Reyes of Albuquerque, NM, and Sean and Isaiah of Aberdeen, MD; Dr. Yolanda M. Leott of Warren, RI; Donna E. (David) May and children Marisa of San Francisco, CA, and Trey of Wilmington, DE; Jacquelyn W. (Jermon) Bell and children Dominque and Noelle of Marietta, GA; siblings, Geraldine (Alfred) Williams, Portage, MI; his twin, Albert (Quaretta Haselrig), both of Johnstown, PA; Rosalind, Delaware, OH; Sovonnia (James Coleman, Jr.), Johnstown, PA; Vanessa Scott, Havre de Grace, MD; Robin Scott, Fort Washington, MD; and Yvette Scott-Carr, Johnstown, PA; and Rebecca Dow (surviving wife of Howard Scott Jr.) Johnstown, PA. Also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was a Conemaugh Valley High School graduate (1967), and he carried his passion for learning to Cambria Rowe and subsequently earning several senior and executive level certifications in business, contract management, homeland security, and government procurement. Moreover, he honorably served his nation in the US Air Force as a Military Police Officer and Senior Freight Handler during the Vietnam War—serving in that operational theater. He was a proprietor of Scott Supply, Inc. (Johnstown, PA), and he retired from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania as a Senior Buyer.
Al and his twin, Albert were baptized at Mt. Saini Institutional Baptist Church. Al's interests included spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, and siblings, enjoying military, western, and martial arts shows and movies, jazz, studying history, discussing politics, and watching sports. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Dr. Reza Azizkhan, and the Windber Hospice Medical Center.
