REYNOLDS - Albert R., 78, Johnstown, passed away on June 9, 2023. Born March 3, 1945, son of Edgar and Gertrude (Ryan) Reynolds. Preceded in death by his parents and son, Albert Richard Jr. Survived by wife Mary (Malloy) of 54 years, daughter Renee (wife of Thomas Staib), grandchildren Joseph, Nathan and Michael; and daughter Amy (wife of William Brotz) and grandchildren Carson, Ella, Daniel and Abby. He was survived by his sister Maryann Kucher, who passed the same day as Al. Albert was a member of Visitation of the B.V.M Parish where he served as a Eucharistic Minister. He was a life long student and educator. Albert received his bachelor, masters and doctorate degrees from the University of Pittsburgh. He became a part of MENSA for over 50 years. He started his career as an English teacher at Vo-Tech. He was promoted to guidance counselor then to vocational director. The next step in his professional journey was as the Superintendent at Conemaugh Township School District where he earned the respect of students, staff and the community. He continued to expand his career path as Director of the Hiram G. Andrews Center from which he retired. Albert was also involved in many civic, religious and community service organizations. He served in the United States Army as a Military Police Officer. He was a general member of the Greater Johnstown City Council. Al served as Secretary at the Harmony Singing Society, Parish Council at Visitation BVM, longtime member of BPOE Elks lodge and Knights of Columbus and sat as a member of the Johnstown Seafood Club. Al was an avid golfer, enjoyed a bet or two on the trotters, and a Miller High Life once in a while. He was known to rent a boat in the summer and take his grandchildren fishing as well as attending every sporting event that they had. He had a strong friend group that focused on golf, poker and Friday morning breakfasts. Albert enjoyed every Pitt athletic matchup there was (H2P). Albert held many titles in his life, but his favorite roles were being a devoted husband, loving father, fun-loving pappy and a true friend. Friends will be received Wednesday from 3:00- 6:00 pm at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. A funeral mass will be held Thursday at 11:00 am at Visitation of the B.V.M. Church.
