William “Bill” Regis McCool, 71, Geistown, passed away October 16, 2019 in Johnstown, PA. Formerly of Lilly, Bill is preceded in death by parents, Leonard & Rita (Conrad) McCool. He is survived by his wife Gloria (Hildebrand), son Sean and his wife Tonya, step-daughter Julie (Brian), and granddaughter Brianna. Bill was the oldest of five siblings: Pat (Dorothy), Mary Agnes (Richard) Slebodnik, Regis (Collette), and Ann (Fred) Oster. Also survived by sister-in-law Patty Balogh, his uncle (and Godfather) Francis Conrad, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins. An Air Force veteran of the Vietnam War, Bill belonged to Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter #364. He was a 1966 graduate of Lilly-Washington High School. He loved the outdoors; it was a good day if he was hunting, fishing, or simply sitting outside on his front porch. He was also an enthusiastic fan of the Steelers and NASCAR. Bill will be remembered as a loving father and husband who would give the shirt off of his back to anyone who asks or needs. He was known for his quick wit, contagious laugh, and compassionate spirit. Friends will be received on Friday from 3pm-7pm at Henderson Funeral Home – East Hills (2503 Bedford Street), where funeral service will be held at 10am on Saturday. Interment Richland Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Windber VFW Post 4795. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Pantry in memory of Bill McCool, as he always wanted to be sure no person went hungry, especially around the holidays.
