Velma Jean King, 94, Johnstown, died October 19, 2019 at Richland Woods surrounded by her loving daughters. Born March 6, 1925 in Johnstown, daughter of Covode and Mabel (McKinney) Deater. Preceded in death by parents, husband Robert King of whom she was married to for 62 years, great grandson Noah Lowman and siblings Kenneth Deater, Mary Ellen Clemenceau, Betty Deater and Dorothy Skiles. Survived by loving daughters Robbie Tanase (Fran), Carol Williams (Tim), Kathy Rouzer (Barry), Terri Burgo (Mike); sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Jean Ann and Dave Wilson, ten grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She was a lifetime member of Homestead Avenue United Methodist Church. She loved to shop and golf. Her greatest joy was hosting Christmas Eve at her home for her family, who meant everything to her. She was the best cook in the world. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the staff at Richland Woods and Asera Care Hospice for the care they provided to Velma. Friends will be received Monday from 4-7 pm at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street, where a funeral service will be held Tuesday at 11:00 am, Rev. Rodney Hatfield. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Asera Care Hospice. Entombment Richland Cemetery.
