Roger Lee Penrod, 79, Elton, died March 20, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Born May 26, 1938, in Windber, son of Thomas and Helen (Felix) Penrod. Preceded in death by parents; stepmother, Beverly “Sis” Penrod; mother-in-law, Dorothy Evans; and brothers, Calvin and David. Survived by wife of 53 years, the former Patricia Evans; children, Sherri Dietz; and Daniel (Tara); and grandchildren, Ashley and Connor, all of Johnstown. Also survived by sisters, Sharon Peterson, and Linda Snyder; brothers, Kenneth, Thomas, Dwayne Kim, and W. James, all of Johnstown; and stepbrother, Charles Sowerbrower, Kettering, OH. He was a member of Dunmyer Lutheran Church, and UMWA Local 1257. Roger was retired from Florence Mining Company, and M&C Trucking Company. He was a US Army veteran stationed in Germany. Roger enjoyed going to car shows with his restored 1930 Model A Roadster. Friends received from 9am until the hour of service at 11am Friday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., with Pastor Nila Cogan, and Pastor William Beck officiating. Military rite will be conducted at the funeral home , immediately following the service by Chas. Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team. Interment, Dunmyer Lutheran Cemetery.
