Robert K. Meiklejohn, “Bob”, 92, Johnstown, passed away November 7, 2019 at home. Born June 4, 1927, in Altoona, son of George and Elizabeth (Gelbke) Meiklejohn. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Donald and his wife, Mildred; and his dear girlfriend, Shirley Leventry. Survived by devoted nephew, David P. Meiklejohn, and his wife Carmella M. (Campagna), Johnstown; great niece, Carissa Meiklejohn, Milton, DE; and numerous cousins. Bob proudly served in the US Navy at the close of World War II, and was employed by Bethlehem Steel Corp. for 32 years. He was a lifelong member of Second Presbyterian Church, where he had a lifetime of friends, and throughout the 8th Ward, without counting the other thousand friends. He lived a good life always giving of himself, and expecting nothing in return. Deepest thanks are extended to the staffs at Memorial Medical Center Palliative Care and Interim Hospice for making his lifelong wish of passing away at home become a reality of a peaceful rest. By request, there will be no viewing or services. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Bob’s name to Second Presbyterian Church, 565 Park Ave., Johnstown 15902. Everybody who knew Uncle Bob can rest assure that he is already busy making fudge, mailing church bulletins, feeding the birds, and watching old movies. He was my second father and everyone’s friend. Arrangements are by Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where expressions of friendship can be made at www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
