Richard E. Fondelier

Richard E. Fondelier, 80, Johnstown, passed away February 13, 2019. Born December 22, 1938 in Johnstown, son of Richard and Sydney (Maloy) Fondelier. Preceded in death by parents; son, Richard J.; and brother, Donald. Survived by wife of 56 years, the former Beverley Roth; children, Thomas (Stacey Gelles), Elton; Kevin, Johnstown; and Kimberly (William Moyer), Harrisburg; daughter-in-law, Carrie, widow of Richard J.; grandchildren, Michael Jacobs (Alysse), Ryan Fondelier (Jacinda), Allison Marks (Christopher), Rylan Nadonley, Elizabeth Fondelier, Madison and Emma Moyer;  great granddaughters, Aaliyah and Adalynn Marks; and sister, Joyce Fondelier-Crum (Michael), Kentucky. Richard was a member of Oakland United Methodist Church for over 50 years. He was active with the Geistown and Belmont Fire Departments, where his sons followed in his footsteps being active firemen. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, who was always smiling and had a sense of humor. Richard enjoyed camping, fishing, and in his younger days, he enjoyed competitive roller skating. He retired from Sani-Dairy with 44 years of service. The Fondelier family would like to extend a heart-felt thank you to the staff at DaVita Dialysis for the care given to Richard for the past 8 years. Friends received 2-6pm Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St. Funeral service will be held Monday at 10am at Oakland United Methodist Church, with Pastor Randy Bain officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Kidney Fund.
