She was born January 31, 1937, in Johnstown, daughter of the late Andrew Jarabak Sr. and Mary (Masar) Jarabak. Pauline was a 1955 graduate of Greater Johnstown High School. Pauline was the loving wife of John F. Birus. They were married on December 19, 1957 at Saint Peter and Paul Church in Woodvale by Father Pier. Her passing ends their marriage of 61 wonderful years. Pauline briefly worked for ACME Markets after high school. She lived her life for her husband, and her family, as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and homemaker. She took great pride in keeping her home clean and taking good care of her family. Pauline demonstrated her love for her husband, children, grandchildren and family members by preparing wonderful meals and delicious baked items for them. She was proud of her family and gave generously to them during her life time. Pauline served alongside her husband for many years at the Moxham Polish National Alliance (PNA Lodge 1327) where she served in a variety of capacities for over 40 years. She organized social events and trips for the members of the “club”. They traveled to district and national bowling tournaments and sponsored many trips to Las Vegas and elsewhere. Pauline cooked and served countless meals and food for the Moxham PNA, PNA District 8 and National Sporting events that were enjoyed by many! Pauline was well known for her cooking and baking especially her famed “nut roll”, cookies and “hunkie” food as she referred to her best dishes. Pauline was a past member of St. Rochus Catholic Church and present member of St. Patrick’s Church. She was also a member of the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Association. Pauline is survived by her husband and their two sons, John T. (Lynn) in Ellicott City, MD. and Timothy J. (Kristine), Irwin, PA. She was the loving “Baba” to 5 grandchildren: John (Jack), Madalynn and Nathan Birus, and Samuel and Margarette Birus.
