Paul L. Strait, 97, Windber, died September 7, 2019 at Windber Hospice. Born February 17, 1922 in Harrisonville, PA. Son of James T. and Annie (Pyne) Strait. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Edna Mae (Edwards); son, James Lloyd; daughters ,Barbara Lee McKinney, Diane Carolus; grandson, Paul Robert Carolus; sisters, Elnora, Edna and Ethel; brothers, Luther, Leslie, Jay, Frank, Dallas and John. Survived by daughter, Paulette, widow of Everett Whistler; sister, Dorothy Seiders; ten grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church for 65 years. Member of Windber VFW Post 4795. 1940 graduate of Greenhill High School of Fulton County. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and gardening. Served in the US Navy in the Pacific Theater 1944 until 1946, aboard the USS Tryon (APH-1) as a MM 3/c. He received the Pacific Theater ribbon with two stars, American Theater ribbon, victory medal and Philippine liberation ribbon with two stars. Friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 pm at Henderson Funeral Home, East Hills, 2503 Bedford Street, where a funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 11 am. Interment Richland Cemetery where military rites will be conducted by Windber VFW Post 4795.
