Margetan , Michael “Mickey”   93  Laurelwood Care Center, formerly of ParkHill  died September 2, 2019 at Laurelwood. Born August 26, 1926 , son of  Vasil and Annastasia Margetan.Preceded in death by parents, loving wife of 65 years Helen (Yackulich), son Thomas, sisters Mary Kozak and Nancy Gelles, Brothers Peter, Frank, Paul, George and William Margetan.Children; Joyce (Leonard) Zuravnsky, Somerset, Janet (Richard) Buchan, East Taylor; David (Kathy Havener), Richland; Robert (Michelle Reighard), Conemaugh. Grandchildren; Matthew Buchan, Alan (Ashley Reynolds) Buchan, Derek (Jessica Brumbaugh) Margetan, Robert and Scott Margetan, Erin (Jason) June, Joseph Zuravnsky and Leslie Tyger. Great Grandchildren; Gavin & Garrett Buchan, and Ethan Margetan.  Brother of Sue Weincek, Massachusetts. Numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews. Graduate of East Conemaugh High School. Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts and Social Studies 1952, California University;  Masters Degree in Education 1959, University of Pittsburgh. Former Industrial Arts instructor at the former Franklin High School and Junior High Guidance Counselor in the Conemaugh Valley School District.  Retired in 1982.  He was a World War II army veteran 1944-1948 ; 60th Infantry Company B 9th Division in the European theatre. Michael was an avid hunter, fisherman, enjoyed playing baseball in his youth. He became a little league coach for his sons in East Taylor and later loved watching his grandsons and great-grandsons play the game. He enjoyed watching professional and college football every weekend and going to the cascinos on bus trips or with family. Member of Johnstown Oldtimers Baseball Association and the American Legion post 970 Parkhill. A special thank you to the caring staff at Amber Springs/Laurelwood Care Center and Grane Hospice Care. Friends received 3-7PM Friday  Henderson-Makuchan Funeral Home 434 First St., Conemaugh , where Parastas will be sung at 6:30PM.   Member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church , Conemaugh, where a Funeral Liturgy will be held at 10AM Saturday with Rev. Robert Oravetz as celebrant. Interment to follow at Holy Trinity cemetery with Military Rite conducted by Chas. Menoher Post 155 VFW Ritual Team.  In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions in Michael’s name be made to East Taylor Volunteer Fire Company.
