Mary Theresa (Boxler) Knipple

December 7, 1931 ~ March 5, 2019 (age 87)

Mary Theresa (Boxler) Knipple, 87, entered into eternal peace March 5, 2019 at Arbutus Park Manor after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease.  She passed away peacefully, reuniting with the love of her life, with her sons by her side.  Born in Johnstown, on December 7, 1931 she was the daughter of the late Charles R. and Catherine M. (Palm) Boxler.  Also preceded in death by her beloved husband and childhood sweetheart Bill; sisters Martha Skovensky and Clara Pudliner; brothers Charles, Jr., James, and Thomas, Sr.; and nephew Thomas Boxler, Jr., all of whom she adored.  Survived by sons William Mark and Robert; siblings Mildred Boxler, Ethel Cassidy,  Richard Boxler, and baby sister Peggy Boxler, all of Johnstown; sister Joanne Davies of North Ridgeville, OH; devoted niece Theresa Skovensky-McGlynn and nephew James Boxler; faithful friend Mandy Robertson, and her “roomie” Florence Grove; and several nieces and nephews to whom she was lovingly known as, Aunt Treet.  A devoted wife, adoring mother, and aunt extraordinaire, she had a caring heart and kind soul, was a friend to everyone, and would have sacrificed anything for her family.  Holiday dinners and summer cookouts were always at “Bill and Mary Theresa’s house,” where she outdid herself every year.   The family expresses its deepest gratitude to her former caregivers and angels Sis Bortoli and Robbie Custer, and the caring staff, including Pastor John Hollis, at Arbutus Park Manor who treated her like their own mother. She was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, where funeral mass will be celebrated at 10am on Friday, with Father Walter Moll as celebrant.  Friends and family will be received at Henderson Funeral Home- East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., on Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Committal at Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Mary Theresa’s memory to Arbutus Park Manor’s Benevolent Care Fund or Ministry program (207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, PA  15904).
