Linda M. Weaver

 WEAVER- Linda M., 72, Johnstown.  Passed away April 24, 2019 at home.  Born August 7, 1946 in Johnstown.  Daughter of William and Alma (Rogalla) Weaver.  Preceded in death by her parents, brother, Ronald and sister, Lori Sirko.  Survived by sisters; Patti married to Raymond McGraw of South Carolina, Joyce Henderson of Johnstown and Becky married to Sam Speranza of Davidsville. She was a Johnstown High School and IUP graduate, where she received a bachelor’s degree in criminology. Linda’s extensive career included being a meter maid, patrol officer, first woman appointed Chief of Police in PA, first youth services officer, detective with juvenile bureau, and mayor, all with the City of Johnstown.  During her time with the city, spanning from 1969 to 1998, she had many accomplishments and was the recipient of numerous awards. One in which she was very proud of was being appointed by the Attorney General’s Task Force to Study family violence including physical and sexual abuse of children and the elderly.   In 1996, CTC hired Linda as manager of security operations (national security) and retired in 2006.  She served on many boards at the local and state levels, including the Women’s Help Center where she served as the president.   Friends will be received from 2-6 pm Sunday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a funeral service will be held at 10:00 am Monday.  Father Clarence Bridges, officiating.  Entombment Grandview Mausoleum.  The family would like to thank the nursing and valet staffs at Conemaugh Cancer Center, John Murtha Cancer Center Radiation Oncology Dept. and Windber Hospice, especially Kelly, for the care and compassion she gave to Linda and our family. Linda was an amazing daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She will be remembered as a trailblazer, for her warmth and generosity, but mostly for her love of her family.
