SPOTZ- John F., 93, Johnstown. Passed away November 3, 2018 at Windber Woods. Born November 13, 1924 in Johnstown. Son of J. Frank and Charlotte W. (Palmer) Spotz. Preceded in death by parents and wife, Phyllis E. (Hagins), who he married on August 22, 1949. Survived by children David R. married to Terri (Swick) of Johnstown and Karen E. married to James L. Hohman of Johnstown; grandsons Zachary and Tyler Spotz. A 75-year, active member of Grove Ave. United Methodist Church. 1942 graduate of Ferndale High School prior to attending University of Pittsburgh for two years as a chemical engineer major. WWII Army Veteran, Buck Sergeant, serving in Fort Bragg and Fort Mead. Former employee of Haws Refractories, where he kept perpetual inventory of the entire company; Bethlehem Steel, where he performed tasks in the print room. Also, he helped at the Senior Community Service Employment Program as a job developer and a teacher’s aide at Visitation School. Friends will be received from 2-5 Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. where funeral service will be held at 11:00 Thursday. Rev. Deb Groeger, officiating. Entombment at Grandview Mausoleum.
