AYRES- John Marshall Rose, 94, Johnstown. Passed away February 5, 2018 at Memorial Medical Center. Born March 25, 1923 in Johnstown. Son of James C. and Mary (Rose) Ayres. Preceded in death by parents, 1st wife Janet (Hammond), and step-sons Kent M. and Gregg S. Trexler. Survived by wife of 35 years, Marian (Berriman) Trexler; children Pamela Ayres married to Jerry Melfi of St. Augustine, FL, Timothy Marshall married to Jackie (Delic) of Johnstown, and Daniel James married to Carla (Owens) of Johnstown; step son K. Scott Trexler and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Active member of First Presbyterian Church, where he was an Elder. He was the CEO of Citizens Cemetery Association. He was active in many organizations, including founding member of Penn Wood Players, Advisory Board of Community Foundation for the Alleghenies, former member of Johnstown Jaycees, Past President of Johnstown Kiwanis Club, and Lieutenant Governor of Kiwanis Club International, Greater Johnstown Lodge 538, F&AM, Jaffa Shrine, Altoona. He became a member of Cambria County Bar Association in 1953, where he was the first recipient of H. Clifton McWilliams Civility Award. Founding member of Flood City Bowmen. He was a well known MC and Toast Master at various events. John graduated from University of Michigan Law School prior to owning his own law firm, John M. R. Ayres LLC. WWII Veteran. He lived by “Raising the Bar” with everything he set out to do. Friends will be received from 10:00 until time of funeral service at Noon on Friday at John Henderson Co.
