Jean Allendorfer Obituary

Jean Allendorfer passed from this life to be with her Lord and Savior, her parents, and Grandma Howe on December 20, 2019. She was born in Johnstown on May 31, 1924, daughter of Ralph L. and Esther (Howe) Allendorfer. Jean lived her entire life in Westmont, graduating in 1942 from Westmont Upper Yoder High School. She served as secretary of her class, and remained as secretary of the Reunion Committee. Jean graduated 2nd in her class, making her a member of the National Honor Society. After attending the University of Pittsburgh at Johnstown for a year, she took employment with People’s Natural Gas Company. She retired in 1987 as senior accounting clerk. After retirement, she served as secretary of the Centennial Flag Committee, writing all of the thank you notes. Jean also volunteered at Laurel View Village, helping to form a small auxiliary, where she served as treasurer. Jean was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, having served several times as regent of the Quemahoning Chapter. Being an only child, Jean was blessed to have friends who made her a member of their families. Marlene and the late Vince Certo, and their two daughters, Michele and Nickol; and Janet and the late Richard Pleskovic, and their daughter, the late Sandra Farcus and son, David Pleskovic, all created a loving relationship with Jean. Whether it was a doctor or emergency room visits in times of need, lunches and dinners out, or holiday meals at their homes, Jean was included as family. She is also survived by good friends, Michael and Gina Koslin; caregiver, Cathi Sweeney; and Mike and Becky, and the staff of the Pike Inn. Friends received from 11AM until the hour of service at 1PM Thursday at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. Pastor David Streets, who was a kind and faithful pastor to Jean will officiate. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to West Hills Community Church, 2301 Sunshine Ave., Johnstown, PA 15905, or to The Nardecchia Spay and Neuter Fund, 131 Damian Dr., Johnstown, PA 15905.
