Irene C. (Derevjanik) Kassick

Irene C. Kassick, 83, Ebensburg, formerly of Franklin Boro, died May 19, 2018 at Cambria Care Center. Born September 2, 1934 in Johnstown, daughter of Vasil and Katarina (Strank) Derevjanik. Preceded in death by parents; husband Charles, Sr.; brothers, Michael, John and Nick; and sisters Mary Tenga, Anna Kindya,  Martha Long, and Helen Naugle. Survived by children, Charles, Jr. (Marybeth Furda), Ferndale; James (Sherry Kelley), Mineral Point; and Melanie (Robert Buchan), Park Hill. Also survived by 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren; sister, Julia Witkosky, Franklin Boro; and sister-in-law, Dorothy Lamberson, Johnstown. She was a member of Church of the Transfiguration. Irene was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother (“G.G.”). The family extends a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Cambria Care for the care given to Irene during her stay.  Friends received 2-8pm Wednesday at Henderson-Makuchan Funeral Home, 434 First St. Conemaugh, where Vigil for the Deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Thursday at Church of the Transfiguration with Rev. Robert C. Hall as celebrant. Committal, Holy Trinity Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital.
