Gloria Joan Steeg, went home to be with her Lord Sunday, Dec. 9, 2018 at the Richland Healthcare Center. She was born June 25, 1923 in Johnstown, daughter of Harrison and Myrtle (Overacher) Spiker. She was preceded in death by parents, brothers, Kenneth McIIroy, Carl and Roland Spiker, and sisters, Helen Chapman and Marjorie Zamiska, infant sister, husband Walter Steeg, infant son Walter Steeg Jr., nephew Robert Diable and feline companions Morris and Kitty. She is survived by her loving children William and special friend Wilda Welsh, Johnstown, Joan and husband Keith Shiflett, Marshall VA, Ruth and husband Thomas Frick, Dover PA, grandchildren Sarah (Frick) married to Spencer Turner; and Garret Frick, Jessica (Jon Wong) and Kyle Shiflett, nephews Kenneth McIIroy Jr., David Spiker and Barbara Pinho, and feline companion Princess. 1941 graduate of Johnstown High School and Cambria Rowe Business College. Employed by Cay Artley sewing factory, U.S. Steel, Alco, and Mercy Hospital. She was a member of First United Methodist Church. She loved her family, pets, visiting the ocean, and especially her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family wishes to thank Richland Care Center, Transitional Care Center of Memorial Hospital and the Atrium, especially Kathy, Joan, and Helene, for the care they showed Gloria. Friends will be received Friday December 14 from 2-4 P.M. and 6-8 P.M. at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where a funeral service will be held on Saturday at Noon, Pastor Edward Herald. Interment Grandview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family wishes donations to go to First United Methodist Church.
