Fred Russell Dibert, 92, Johnstown, passed away July 11, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Born July 27, 1924, In Bedford, son of Ralph and Gladys (Russell) Dibert. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Gerald; and sister, Norma Wilson. Survived by wife of 64 years, former Martha Ruth Clapper; daughters, Carolyn (Robert Lynch); and Jennifer, both of Johnstown; grandsons, Ian Lynch, Pittsburgh and Caleb Lynch, who is attending University of Pittsburgh Pharmacy School in Oakland. Fred attended Arbutus Church of the Brethren. He was a radio and television repairman for Battery and Electric in Hornerstown, and Geistown TV, from where he retired. He served in the US Army during WW II as a light machine gunner, and was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained during the Battle of the Bulge. In his spare time, Fred enjoyed smoking his pipe, and playing golf and softball. He loved spending time with his grandsons, and attending all of their sporting events. Fred was a big fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates. He will be deeply missed by his family. By request, there will be no visitation. Funeral service will be private. Entombment, Richland Mausoleum. Family suggests memorial contributions be made to Disabled American Veterans at DAV.org. Arrangements are by Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills.
