Ernest Brennsteiner, Sr., 82, Johnstown, died February 8, 2018. He was born February 13, 1935, in Ronco, son of the late Albert Brennsteiner, Sr. and Louise (Oberleitner) Brennsteiner. He was preceded in death by infant grandson, Kenneth John Hrapchak; and brothers, Albert, Jr., and Joseph. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Bernadine (Blout); children, Ernest, Jr. (Patricia); James (Elin); Stephanie (James Mical); and Amy (Leo Marsh); grandchildren, Alex Brennsteiner; Aaron, Daniel, Leah, and Julia Brennsteiner; Kaitlin, James, and Nicholas Mical; and Mitchell Hrapchak; sister, Marie Durschlag; brothers-in-law, Joseph S. He was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church in Geistown. He attended All Saints School, Masontown. Ernie worked as a manager at Thorofare and Riverside, and loved spending time with his customers at the lottery desk. Ernie loved sports, especially baseball and football. He was a coach for years at West Suburban Little League, and enjoyed playing in the St. Clement Bowling League with his wife. Ernie had a strong faith that was lived in service, especially through his membership in the Knights of Columbus and the St. Vincent de Paul Society, where he was very active with the Food for Families Program. His family was his main purpose in life, and he especially loved attending his grandchildren’s sporting and school events. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Benedict Catholic Church, Rev. David S. Peles and Rev. Dan Blout, concelebrants. Interment will be in St. Joseph Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be directed to St. Benedict Catholic Church in memory of Ernie. “The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall lack. In green pastures he makes me lie down; to still waters he leads me; he restores my soul.”  Psalm 23 www.hendersonfuneralhome.com
