Emma Jane Hirschberger, 90, Davidsville, formerly of Johnstown, passed away April 3, 2019 at Laurel View Village. Born September 6, 1928, daughter of the late George M. and Luella (McGough) Hirschberger. Survived by sister, Gloria; and special cousin, Dorene Cooper. Jane was a graduate of Johnstown High School. She received a Bachelor of Arts degree in education from the University of Pittsburgh, a master’s degree in speech pathology from Penn State, and a doctorate of education from the University of Pittsburgh. She was a social studies teacher at the former Joseph Johns Junior High School, and a speech therapist consultant in the secondary gifted program of the Cambria County Schools. She also served as an assistant professor of education at St. Francis in Loretto. She received her Juris Doctorate from Duquesne University School of Law, and practiced law in Cambria County. Jane was a Benedictine Oblate St. Vincent Archology and prayed the Liturgy of the Hours daily. She enjoyed reading, listening to music, watching television, and playing bridge with many fine ladies. Grateful appreciation is extended to Father James Crookston for his spiritual guidance and a heart-felt thank you is extended to Dr. Maharajh, and the Laurel View nursing staff and family for their compassion and excellent care. At. Jane’s request, there will be no public viewing. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11am Saturday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral with Very Rev. James Crookston as celebrant.
