Eleanor Wicks Obituary

Eleanor Margaret (Moore) Wicks, 86, of Southampton, NJ, formerly of Johnstown, passed away surrounded by her loving family on May 28, 2019 in Moorestown, NJ. The daughter of Major John Marion Moore and Elizabeth Moore, Eleanor was born in Fort Sill, Oklahoma on March 14, 1933. She graduated from Drexel University in Philadelphia and was a dietician for Saint Luke’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida and later for the Florida Department of Health. Eleanor married Dr Dwight Barnett Wicks, DDS on November 28, 1970 and assumed the role of office manager for his practice in the Swank Building.  Dr Wicks passed away in 2009.  She was active with genealogy, sewing and knitting and many other pursuits.  She was a past member of the American Dietetic Association, the Pennsylvania Dietetic Association, the Quemahoning Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, a Life Member of the Somerset County Historical Society, and a founding member of the Johnstown Area Dietetic Internship. Eleanor is survived by her sister, Dr. Elizabeth Jane Moore; two daughters, Margaret Anne Moore of Johnstown and Martha Louise Moore of Medford, NJ.  Also surviving are grandchildren Margaretta Bumford, Dwight Bumford, Stephen Shiffer and Elizabeth Shiffer. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Dr Wicks and an infant brother, John Marion Moore Jr. Friends received Saturday from 10:00 am until the time of the funeral service at 11:00 am, at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave.  Interment Grandview Cemetery.
