83, passed away on May 7, 2019. He was born on September 24, 1935, in Brooklyn, NY. Devoted husband for 55 years of Patricia (Lohman) Esserman. Loving father to his five children: Julia Horowitz, John Esserman, Janyce Wolfe (husband Patrick Wolfe), Matthew Esserman, and Michele (Mia) Esserman (husband Patrick Rice). Proud grandfather of Stephanie Esserman Howard (husband Nick Howard), Daniel Wolfe, Maggy Esserman-Rice, and Simon Esserman-Rice. He will be missed by his sister-in-law, Suzanne (Lohman) Sobecky and her husband Leonard Sobecky. He is also survived by his siblings, Robert Esserman and Suzanne Esserman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Nadja (Nettie) Wolff Esserman and Aaron (Harry) Esserman. Don graduated from James Madison High School in Brooklyn in 1952, and from the Polytechnic Institute of Brooklyn (BS in chemical engineering) in 1956. He was the superintendent of the Wire Mill of Bethlehem Steel, Johnstown plant. He was a longtime member of Sunnehanna Country Club, where he served on the Board of Governors. He served on the board of the Johnstown Area Heritage Association, and was board president for 12 years. He loved family vacations at the beach, classical music, opera, gardening, books, and Pittsburgh sports. In his younger years, he enjoyed playing golf and tennis. He was gentle and charming, had a wonderful sense of humor, and was adored by his family. Arrangements handled by Henderson Funeral Home. Private memorial service.
