Betty Jane Hody, 89, Johnstown, died June 13, 2018, at Laurel Wood Care Center. She was born January 23, 1929, in Windber, daughter of James Christian Jr. and Jane (Hopkins) Dietrich. Preceded in death by parents; step father, Glen Bellville; step mother, Betty McElhaney; husband, Carl, Sr.; daughter Susan; son, Carl, Jr; and step brothers, John McElhaney and David Bellville. Survived by children, Betty, widow of Donald Wilson, Richland; and Roger E., Johnstown; grandchildren, Tabitha (Joe Gallo), Ryan Wilson, Tia (Brett Zdunczyk), Breann Hody, and Brian (Sue Poborski); great grandchildren, Deegan, Kaliyah, Brandon (Breanne), Lacie (Charles), Alexis, and Caden,; and great-great grandchildren, Charlie, Jack, and Jorden. Also survived by sisters, Elsie (Nick DiLoreto); and Janet (Keith Hardy); step sisters, Peggy Patrick, Betty Onyshko, and Helen Kirlough; sister-in-law, Dorothy Buriani; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Betty was a proud graduate of Windber High School, class of 1947. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church for 61 years. She was a member and past president of both, Daughters of the American Revolution, and Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War. She enjoyed traveling. Her favorite trips were to Hawaii, and to Texas for her husband, Carl’s 112th Calvary Reunion. She loved watching and feeding the birds, as well as researching family history. Friends received from 3 pm until 7 pm Monday at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., where funeral service will be held Tuesday at 1 pm with Rev. Toby Holland officiating, Joyce Plaza, organist. Interment will be in Richland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made in Betty’s name to Trinity Lutheran Church.
