Barbara A. (Gehring) Herdman

HERDMAN-Barbara A. (Gehring) 78, Johnstown, died January 4 at Conemaugh Hospital.  Born November 10, 1941, daughter of the late George and Anna (Schilling) Gehring.  Preceded in death by husband, Kenneth E. Sr.; brothers Theodore (Ted), John, Richard, James, and Larry; and sisters Dorothy (Dot) Finley, Marie Govekar, and Margaret (Marge) Robel.  Survived by sister, Florence (Flo) Hale, of Windber, and brother Ronald (Peck) Gehring, of New Florence.  Also survived by children, Kenneth E. Jr., married to Pamela (Vargo), Johnstown; Frank G., married to Lynnae (Kepple), Holidaysburg; and Dawn M., married to Charles (Chuck) Andolina, Johnstown.  Grandchildren, Benjamin; Kaylyn, Miranda, Patricia, Nick, Jacob and Alyx; and Jillian and Jocelyn Andolina; Goddaughter Kelly Robel-Eritano; and numerous nieces and nephews.  Barbara is a former employee of Riverside and Ideal Markets, and retired from Page Bedding.  Nobody seems to remember exactly when Barb and her sisters began the tradition of the July Gehring Family Reunion, but it has been held annually for the last forty or fifty years.  Holidays were spent visiting family, or hosting them at her home. She enjoyed spending time with children and grandchildren.   In more recent years she kept busy with her iMac; special thanks to her niece Karen Tetor for introducing Barb to the computer age.  Barbara’s family will forever miss hearing her say “Love you more!”  Friends will be received Thursday from 3 to 7 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. A funeral service will be held at 11 am Friday at Zion Lutheran Church, Rev. Michael VanDyke. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
