When looking for the right funeral home, many factors enter the picture; location, facility, staff, reputation and price. Acceptance level when it comes to location and facility is one of personal choice. No one but yourself knows how far you are willing to travel nor do they know what amenities at a funeral home are necessary to please you. We all have different tastes.

Staff is very important, the death of a loved one is a memorable event, it's only going to happen once, the funeral service you  receive MUST be handled with compassion and sincerity along with a knowledgeable and capable staff. Talk to your neighbors and friends who have been in the community for years and see what those you trust think of the funeral home.

Ask questions -- How long have they been in business? Are they fair with people? Do they handle all types of funeral arrangements? Have you used them? Would you use them? Why?

Pricing is a determining factor at times. Make sure they itemize their prices and you have the right to choose the services and merchandise you want. Beware of package pricing; typically you are paying for items you don't necessarily need or want. Look for a full range of merchandise - caskets and outer burial containers (better known as vaults), do they cover everyone's needs, and are all the choices respectable in appearance and function.
