GRADY - Richard Regis "Dick", 92, Johnstown died March 2, 2024. He was born June 4, 1931 in Johnstown, son of Regis and Dorothy (Helsel) Grady. Proceeded in death by his parents and sister Kathleen "Kass" Grady. Survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Janet (Maier) and their three daughters Karen Fink (Robert), Elaine Metzler (Alan), and Cathy Weinheimer (John). Also survived by seven grandchildren: Dr. Dorothy Fink Pacold (Dr. Michael), Attorney Katie Fink Dunn (Steven), Matthew Metzler (Justine), Eric Metzler (Stephanie), Dr. Alaina Weinheimer PhD, Grady Weinheimer (Emily), and Nancy Weinheimer. Eleven Great Grandchildren: Michael and Rose Catherine Pacold; Thomas, Jane Katherine, Matthew, and Robert Dunn; Cara and Mia Metzler; Emery and Owen Metzler; Henry Weinheimer. Richard graduated from Johnstown Catholic High School class of 1949 and went on to Saint Francis College to graduate with a Masters Degree in Industrial Engineering. He served in the United States Army during the Korean War and then was employed in numerous capacities by Jones & Laughlin Steel, US Steel, Westinghouse Air Brake, Bethlehem Steel, and finally retired from the State of Pennsylvania in 2010. Richard was a long time member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and after the merger with St. John Cathedral he continued to be supportive during his many years of volunteer work. He was also a long standing member of the Hibernian Society. Dick's fondest memories were traveling with his wife and spending time with his grandchildren. Friends will be received from 3PM to 8PM Friday, March 8th at the John Henderson Company Funeral Home, located at 215 Central Avenue. Funeral Mass will be held at 1PM Saturday, March 9th at St John Gualbert Cathedral, downtown Johnstown. Father Matthew Baum will be offering the Mass. Committal will be at Grandview Cemetery.
