Gary Witkosky Obituary

Gary L. Witkosky, "Ziggy", 84, Johnstown, passed away April 2, 2024, at Crossroads Arbutus Park Manor. Born March 24, 1940. Son of Lee and Gladys (Goodwin) Witkosky. Preceded in death by parents, stepmother Frances Elizabeth "Betty" (Gates) Witkosky, brother Jim Witkosky, stepbrother David Horton, brother-in-law Calvin Roland and granddaughter Naomi Gamber. Survived by wife Betty Ann (Price); beloved canine Charlie; former spouse Marie (Rozum); children Daniel, John, Julie and Suzanne Witkosky all of Johnstown, Eric (MaryEllen) Farabaugh of State College, Stephanie (Brian) Stevens of Johnstown; Pappy's grandchildren Megan (Julie), Gabriel (Daniel), Abby, Dylan (John), Mason, Julian, Jacob (Suzanne), Allen, Garrett, Leah (Eric), Colin, Luke (Stephanie), and numerous nieces, nephews and relatives. Also survived by sisters, Shirley Duvall of Lancaster, Arlene Roland of New Jersey, Connie Gavin and Frances Freeman (Cliff); brother-in-law John Rozum; sister-in-law Betty Witkosky. Gary worked at Galliker's Dairy Co. until retirement in 2005. He loved to fish, hunt and target shoot. He especially enjoyed deer hunting and fishing with his grandkids. Gary was an active lifelong member of the Greater Ferndale Sportsmen's Club, Boswell, PA, where he served as a Director and the Pond Warden. He especially enjoyed helping the children during the kids Fish-a-rama. Ziggy helped out with anything that the club needed. He was also active in the Tire Hill Rod & Gun Club, where he was recognized as an Honorary Lifetime Trustee. Ziggy was a welcomed face wherever he went and had numerous friends all over. A special mention to all his friends at Ferndale Sportsmen's and Tire Hill Rod & Gun club. A special thank you to Joey Simko for his support during Gary's illness. Also, thank you, to the staff at Crossroads and Aseracare Hospice for their compassion and care through this difficult time. Gary will never be forgotten and will live in our hearts forever, as Ziggy would say "Don't worry about it" and " Be happy". At Gary's request, there will be no viewing. Friends will be received Monday from 10:00 am until time of service at noon at the Second Presbyterian Church, Park Ave. Johnstown PA 15902, Pastor Art Moffat Jr. will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Ziggy to the Greater Ferndale Sportsmen's club 112 Ferndale Drive, Boswell PA 15531. John Henderson company Funeral Home is serving the family.
