Susan S. Shahade

SHAHADE- Susan S., 62, Johnstown. Passed away peacefully at home on January 6, 2018. Born July 8, 1955 in Johnstown. Daughter of the late Theodore R. and Nancy (Sciulli) Shahade. Survived by loving brother Alex married to Nancy (Whitney) of Texas, aunts, cousins and many friends. Member of St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church. She was active on the local, regional and national levels of Antiochian Orthodox Archdiocese. She was passionate with helping others in need by her involvment in many civic organizations serving on numerous boards of directors and committees. Susan was hired in 1981 and was appointed as the Executive Director in 1989 of the Women's Help Center.  She was instrumental in the growth of the Cambria and Somerset Women’s Help Centers. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 6-8 Wednesday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. where Trisagion Prayers of Mercy will be at 7:00 pm. Trisagion Prayers will begin at 10:00 am Thursday at the funeral home followed by funeral service at St. Mary Antiochian Orthodox Christian Church, 111 Alberta Ave. Very Rev. Father Donald Shadid, officiating. Interment Grandview Cemetery.
