Roy E. Sipe, 97, Windber, formerly of Richland Township, died peacefully, April 16, 2018, at Church of the Brethren Home. He was born July 10, 1920, in Jenners, son of the late Harry and Lottie (Hoffman) Sipe. He was preceded in death by his wife, Cynthia (Large) Sipe; brothers, Earl, Walter, Glen, Paul, and Dewey Sipe; and sisters, Maude Onkst, Betty Bell, and Mae Clark. He is survived by his children, Roy L. (Jill), Mundys Corner; and Jane, (Richard Faust), Windber; grandchildren, Shawn Sipe (Tammy), Scott Sipe (Julie), Sarah Faust (Duane), and David Faust (Chelsea); seven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was a member of Moxham Lutheran Church. He was an avid golfer, and duckpin bowler. He retired from Bethlehem Steel Corporation after 39 years of service. He was a WW II US Army veteran, having received the Purple Heart. Friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Henderson Funeral Home East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Phyllis Diamond, officiating. Interment will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at graveside by members of Menoher Post 155 VFW Honor Guard.
