Julia M. (Makuchan) Yackulich

Julia M. Yackulich, 93, Laurelwood Care Center, formerly of Park Hill, died November 6, 2017, at Memorial Medical Center. She was born May 16, 1924, in Conemaugh, daughter of the late George and Anna (Petriska) Makuchan. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles; sisters, Bertha Crocco, Margaret Verno, Mary Scherzer, Ann Grabusnik, Elizabeth Makuchan, and Olga Pruchnic; and brothers, George and Michael Makuchan. She is survived by sisters, Irene Nagrant, NJ; Elaine Ritchey, and husband, Robert, Johnstown; and Sally Kalinyak, and husband, George, Dublin, OH; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was a member of Holy Trinity Byzantine Catholic Church. She retired from A&P Grocery Stores. She was a wonderful cook and baker, and she shared those talents with family and friends, as well as those less fortunate. She particularly enjoyed providing meals during the holidays. She also provided transportation for groceries and doctor’s appointments to the elderly. The family wishes to thank employees of Amber Springs and Laurelwood for their compassionate and loving care for Julia. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until noon on Saturday at Henderson-Makuchan Funeral Home, 434 First St., Conemaugh. Graveside services will follow at Holy Trinity Cemetery, the Rev.
