John J. Zubal

John J. Zubal, 60, of Johnstown, passed away November 21, 2016, at Memorial Medical Hospital. Born October 27, 1956 in St. Michael, PA. He is the son of the late Michael and Stella (Zevorich) Zubal. Preceded in death by parents, sister Mary Ann Rosenberger and brother-in-law John Chrzanowski. John is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Judith A. (Roper) Zubal, his children Douglas J. and fiancée Amanda Kidd and Laura E. and fiancé James Young, sister Nancy Chrzanowski, brother Michael P. Zubal and sister-in-law Valerie Zubal, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Michael and Cindy Roper, Jacqueline and Charles Henke, Susan Roper and Steven Byan, Emmett Rosenberger, and numerous nieces and nephews. John graduated from Johnstown Vo-Tech and received a Bachelor of Science degree in geology from Pitt-Johnstown. He worked at the Cambria County Assistance office in Johnstown for 23 years. John was a member of the Greater Johnstown Tennis Association and Pitt-Johnstown Alumni Association for many years. He was an avid Pitt Panther college football and basketball fan. He loved his pets, dog Champ, and cats Belle and Pumpkin. He also enjoyed car rides and backyard campfires. Friends received from 2 until 4 and 6 until 8pm Friday, at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held at 10:30am Saturday, at St. Benedict Catholic Church, with Father David Peles as celebrant. Committal, St. Michael Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family.
