James Owens

James Owens, 76, Johnstown, passed away November 28, 2016, at Jupiter Medical Center, Jupiter, FL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Betty (Sarver) Wohl and Robert Owens; wife, Mary Jo (Probst) Owens; daughters, Tammy Ruprecht and Mary Beth Owens; and brothers, Robert Owens and Thomas Wohl. He is survived by his daughter, Rebecca Balog, and husband, Brian; son, Robert Owens; son-in-law, Fred Ruprecht, and wife, Paula; four grandchildren, Kimberly Owens, and fiancé, Henry; Abigail Balog, Eden Balog, and Maura Ruprecht; two great grandchildren, Camedon Williams and Leone Williams; brother, Joseph Wohl, and wife, Paulette; sister, Darla Wonders, and husband, John; nieces, Vicki Austin, Tracy DeMario, and Kerri Christensen; nephew, Joseph Wohl;  as well as many close friends. Born and raised in western Pennsylvania, Jim was a lifelong resident of Johnstown. He served in the U.S. Air Force, and was a member of the American Legion. He had worked for Bethlehem Steel Corporation, and after his retirement, had worked at the Moxham Lutheran Church. He was an active and loved member of the church, where he served as a council member for many years. Jim pursued his other passions, fishing and community service, helping many in his congregation and in the community. Friends will be received from 11 a.m. until the hour of service at 1 p.m. on Friday at the Moxham Lutheran Church, the Rev. Dr. Robert Wagner, officiating.
