Dorothy Elizabeth (Mabon) Smith

Smith, Dorothy Elizabeth, 94, Johnstown, died February 12, 2018 at her home. Born March 10, 1923 in Johnstown. She was the daughter of Joseph L. Mabon I. and Gertrude C. (Crossen) Mabon. Preceded in death by parents; husband, James D. Smith Sr.; son, James D. Smith Jr. and his wife Catherine (Mangiafico); and brother, Joseph L. Mabon II. Survived by children; Alice (Thomas) Wallace, Jane, Robert (Donna), Patricia; grandchildren, Karen, Michael, Brodie, Patricia, Pauline, Richard and Gretchen; great grandchildren, James, Taylor, Blake, Victoria, Zachary, Franjeska, Samuel, and Mason; and  sister, Alice M. Sheridan. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church. A 1941 graduate of Johnstown Catholic High.  She loved bingo, reading, crocheting, Yahtzee, and Scrabble. Avid Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers fan. The family would like to thank the nurses and aides from Heritage Hospice that provided care for their mother . Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 pm at John Henderson Company Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave. A funeral mass will be held Friday at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am with Fr. Walter Moll as celebrant. Inurnment, St. Johns Cemetery.
