Betty A. (Leposky) Spantak

Betty A. Spantak, 84, Johnstown, died June 15, 2017, at Laurel Wood Care Center. Born July 17, 1932, in Johnstown, daughter of Michael and Elizabeth (Nagy) Leposky. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Andrew; and sister, Nancy Kersey, and her husband Claude. Survived by daughters, Andrea Yorke, Georgia; Elaine (Robert Wright), Colorado; Annette (Dr. Michael Comas), Ligonier; and Lori (Frank Gorgone, her “Honorary Son”), Johnstown; grandchildren, Tracey Yorke, Michael Yorke (Shelly), Kellie Cominsky, and Andrew Cominsky; and great grandchildren, Shana, Declan, and Jaylan.  Sister of Lois Kinback, widow of Bernard, Portage; Michael (Josephine), New Jersey; and Joseph, and fiancée, Linda, Portage. She was a member of St. Benedict Catholic Church, where she was a former member of the Resurrection Choir. Betty was a graduate of Portage Area High School. She moved to Dayton, OH to work several years at Wright Patterson AFB, as a civilian employee in the secretarial pool. She then returned to Johnstown, where she was employed at Penn Furniture, until becoming a full time homemaker, wonderful and caring mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and “baker extraordinaire.” Friends received from 4 until 7pm, Sunday, at Henderson Funeral Home-East Hills, 2503 Bedford St., where vigil for the deceased will be held. Funeral mass will be held Monday at 10am at St. Benedict Church, with Father David Peles as celebrant. Committal, Richland Cemetery.
