Alma Mountain

Alma Mountain, 99, passed on Friday August 10, 2017.  She was the daughter of Harry and Clara (Koontz) Bechtel.  She was born in Loysburg, Bedford County.  Proceeded in death by parents, her beloved husband Joseph Davis Mountain and brothers Burger Bechtel and Dr. H. Bernard Bechtel.  Alma is survived by sons Joe A. Mountain, married to Patricia Carroll; Ft. Pierce, Fl. And Ned L. Mountain, married to Nancy Thompson; Sautee Nacoochee, Ga. Nephew, Burger Bechtel Penrod and the following grandchildren: Dr. Kimberly Mountain Kimchi, Twins William and Joseph Mountain, Barbara Mountain Vigue, and Amanda Mountain.   There are 6 Great Grandchildren, Ben, Emma, and Caroline Kimchi, Trevor and Victoria Mountain, and Aiden Vigue. Alma graduated Valedictorian from Johnstown High School class of 1936 and attended Juniata College.  She was a charter member of the Belmont United Methodist Church, a church pianist, choir member, and active in many other church areas.  After her husband’s death in 1968, she went as a missionary to the McCurdy Mission School in Espanola New Mexico before retiring to the Arbutus Retirement Community where she remained until her passing. At her request, there will be no viewing or visitation, and a memorial service will be held at 9:30 AM on Wednesday August 16 at Belmont United Methodist Church.  Internment follows at Grandview Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to either the Belmont United Methodist Church; 107 Coldren St. Johnstown, Pa. 15904, or McCurdy Ministries; 362A South McCurdy Road, Espanola NM. 87532.
